Good News
Saturday, January 16

Contact was made to Maxandre's cell phone today by Cara.  Reception was virtually nonexistent but she was able to ask if they were okay?  Cara believes that Helene, Maxandre's wife, answered that they were alive but their home had collapsed.  Cara will continue her attempts to get a better connection but for now we're thrilled with this news.  Thanks so much Cara!!!  Keep Maxandre and his family and neighbors in your thoughts and prayers.

We've had no word from our friends in Haiti.  We're hoping to hear from Maxandre and learn of his well being and that of his students and the school in Darbonne.  Our commitment to help Maxandre and his students and staff through our Hope4Haiti effort is very much intact.
We want nothing more than to learn that our friends are safe at this point.  We believe that Maxandre would support our decision to fund relief for now.

Please visit our Giving Games tab for details on how we intend to raise some much needed funds for relief in Haiti.

We invite visitors to our site to consider their own Giving Games initiative. Check out the Giving Games tab for details.

Good News - An Update

Kids4Good Launches First National Campaign!

On December 2, 2009, Kids4Good launched their Inaugural SpeakOut4AS event in District 61. Students at both Lace School and Eisenhower Junior High - over 1,100 total, chose to remain silent during lunch in an effort to raise awareness about a little known disorder called Angelman Syndrome.

Visit our SpeakOut4AS tab and learn more about this campaign and how we're working to help a fellow district student, Ainsley Evans, who has Angelman Syndrome, raise awareness and funds for a cure for her disorder.

We're so proud of our students at Lace, Eisenhower and Mark DeLay for participating in this Inaugural event.  In addition to spreading the word about this disorder, the group managed to raise over $1,100 at Lace and EJH to help fund a cure.  These funds were presented to FAST, Foundation for Angelman Syndrome Therapeutics on Saturday, December 5, at their annual Gala in Chicago.
