Kids4Good
Always Remember

In observance of 9/11, we'd ask that you take a moment to reflect on what you might do to make a difference today and everyday.

If you have a moment, actually 8:22 moments, you may find the following video worthwhile.

So what is Campaign4Good?

Aside from being a catchy domain name that we secured months ago, it's the overlaying theme of everything we're about.

Kids4Good has been a powerful model in our community for some of our younger citizens the past few years.

We're onto something.  And while we're certainly not claiming to be the only group performing good deeds, we've managed to help a broad range of people both here in our community and around the globe!

Campaign4Good will begin to expand our reach, outside of the brick and mortar of the school.  We want to showcase others and what they're doing to spread good.

Good Works will begin to focus on
other opportunities you might consider for involving your children and yourself in something good, something new, something that may change you or at least expand your comfort zone a bit.

A Historical Day!

We couldn't let the election get away from us as we gathered for our weekly meeting on the day after our country had elected it's first African-American President - Barack Obama!

As we discussed, it didn't matter if your household was Republican or Democrat on this day or how your parents might have voted - of course there seemed to be high interest in how Mrs. McGann voted.

The fact is that this group is living this historical moment for our country and we wanted to acknowledge it in some way.

Each K4G kid received a Pewter Peace token to have as a reminder of this pivotal day in history.

The K4G group from last year received the same token on Martin Luther King Day.

It just worked out that way...

Community Service - The Plan

So, one of the unique things about our group of elementary students is that we take on a range of topics and projects.

Our group has been exposed to issues from poverty in our own community, fundraising for our own school district  to aiding in eradication efforts across the globe and meeting, and learning from the individuals who are making it their life's work.

We took the opportunity on the day we were discussing our new President, to touch on his position on public service.

Citizen engagement.  They have a plan which you can learn about by visiting www.barackobama.com.

As I tried to explain to our group, what everyone seems to overlook on the topic of public service, is the time in which to engage someone.

Our Kids4Good group has proven time and time again that you're never to young to start making a difference.  Most programs don't acknowledge this point choosing to focus instead on high school and beyond.

The new administration plans to expand Service-Learning in our Nation's Schools.  Obama and Biden believe that middle and high school students should be expected to engage in community service for 50 hours annually during the school year or summer months.

Again, our Kids4Good model has proven that there's no age limit on performing good deeds.

Most of our group logs nearly 50 hours throughout the course of a typical Kids4Good year and that doesn't include deeds they perform as part of another group or more importantly, with their families!

We will continue this dialogue here and perhaps find a way to showcase our work to a broader audience.

This will take time...
